By first fulfilling the thermal demand of a boiler, the Power Burner 100 can achieve the most cost-effective generation of power for gas-fired DG. This principle is core to the benefit of Leveraged Power. The Power Burner 100 follows the thermal load of the boiler with up to a 10:1 turndown ratio while maintaining maximum power output (100 kWe). The result… a quick payback, modular, low-emission’s approach to DG/CHP.
With Leveraged Power, businesses will cogenerate electricity at a 90% fuel-to-power efficiency (3812 BTUs/kWh). The Power Burner 100 recovers wasted energy associated with today's boilers to cogenerate 100 kWe. It turns boilers into generators of more efficient and cleaner heat and power at the lowest possible cost. The net fuel cost of electricity is typically $0.02/kWh at today’s gas prices and the Levelized Cost of Electricity (LCOE) ranges from $0.05/kWh to $0.07/kWh.
With Leveraged Power, businesses are able to “spread out” their on-site power generation across all their boilers. This modular approach is much different than past DG/CHP installations that typically concentrated all their power generation into once piece of equipment. With many Power Burner 100s at one site, you’re able to shave off a significant percentage of your base electricity load, but have the flexibility to modulate your power generation, lower the risk of a single equipment failure knocking out your onsite generator, and potentially curtail high standby rates.
For the first time in NOx regulated markets such as California, businesses that install the Power Burner 100 will achieve less than a two-year payback on their ultra-low NOx compliance investments by generating 100 kWe with no additional pipeline natural gas. Today’s conventional boiler burners waste heat and electrical energy to meet NOx, costing customers’ money and polluting the air with higher amounts of greenhouse gases. The Power Burner 100 recovers the wasted energy lost with these burners to generate 100 kWe with the same amount of fuel. Learn More.
